Music

I love live music.  I love the thrill of attending concerts in big venues, small clubs, indoors and out.  It's almost an addiction lately, buying these tickets and then looking forward to the show. I think I like the people watching the best, it is fun to see everyone looking so happy and having fun although the people I notice the most are the ones that aren't.

A few years ago the Eagles came to play at Rio Tinto Stadium, and just out of sheer luck a friend of Dave's gave us his floor tickets to show.  It was the first concert hosted there, and there were some quirky problems that I don't know if they have fixed but the biggest one was that the chairs (which were small folding chairs) were zip-tied together and there was absolutely no room between seats.  Now, I am not a small person but I think of myself as quite average it is was uncomfortable to sit there, squashed against total strangers.  What made it worse was the attitude of the lady next to me.   Everyone was happy and laughing in a very "hey we are all in this together" sort of mood, but she sat there with her arms folded and just glared at everyone when they tried to talk to her.  Then, she started elbowing me in the back everytime I tried to sit down, or shift position, or talk to my husband.  I finally had to ask her if I was going to have to call security.  Someone finally found a knife (don't know how that got past security) and cut the zip ties on the chairs so we could have some breathing room, but this woman just sat there with her arms folded through the whole show.  Who does that?   What was the point of going to the show if you were just going to hate it?

Anyway, in the last two months the kids and I have been to see the Utah Symphony several times, and next week my daughter and I are going to see Lady Gaga at the ESA.  I booked us a hotel room and everything and we are going to make a real "girls night out"  out of it.   Then on the 24th we have tickets to the Utah Symphony again.  Then I have tickets to see Adele in May and Josh Groban in August.  It feels like a pretty full schedule, but then I just noticed that  KT Tunstall is going to be at The State Room.  I dread to see the full concert list for Red Butte Garden too, I love that place.  I may have to get a second job to start supporting my concert habit.

Saturdays

I am an accountant, and I work for a public accounting firm so this time of year is always busy.  We work mandatory six day weeks, eat lunch at our desks, stay late, come in early, etc.  I do this every year from January to May, and I have been at this job for nearly sixteen years.

I actually don't mind working on Saturdays, it's generally pretty quiet.  The phones don't ring much and the only people who come in are usually here for a specific appointment. I can listen to my ipod and block out the world and get more done in one day than I do all week.  Sometimes I wonder if I should just come in on Saturdays year round and take a day off during the week.  That never works though.

Welcome!

I have been meaning to do this for a while.  I start, and I stop, and I think that no one will want to hear my ramblings, and maybe I should just keep things to myself.

Unfortunately, I love to write (at least I used to, but that's another story for another day) and I am constantly composing little stories in my head that want to get out.  They need to get out, before they drive me crazy.  Sometimes, I just want to share something that happened that I think someone else might want to hear.  So here we are.

Thanks for stopping by, and I will try not to waste your time.  Oh who am I kidding, would you be surfing blogs on the internet if you weren't trying to waste time?  I'll at least try to make it entertaining, I think I can do that.

I think.
